Problems shared by our Instagram followers 1. Every year, Namakkal district receives less rainfall and the Manimutharu river is directed only to the fishery lakes. The river bank is not even connected with the agricultural lake. Older rivers are now occupied for government projects and the connection of both the lakes is terminated. For the past 2 years, the cost of the crops is not increased but the cost of the land is increased by 700%. 50% of the farmers in that region sold their land and moved to semi-urban areas. 2. We have difficulties with water table level and the price of our agricultural products. We sell at a very low price were we don’t even get back the money invested in it. This is a serious issue to be noted. 3. Agro forestry can restore nitrogen fertility in soil by utilizing nitrogen and fixing plants like legumes. I actually see how much they work in the fields. (Delhi) 4. Initially, we cultivated carrots in our field and watered them two times a day. But we faced a huge loss due to the damage caused by bison. Next, on the same land we put in tea plants as it was less affected by bison and we used hands to plug it out. Mostly our tea plants are graded B or B+ (I'm not very sure about the grades). Now we are under lockdown due to the high corona positive cases. So, we have no option other than throwing out the tea leaves to go in vain as no other factories accept tea leaves from locked areas

The farmer's protest has completed its 6 months in India. The agitated and distressed farmers started their protest as the government of India passed 3 farm acts in Parliament during September 2020. Various farmers and farmer unions have protested against the laws, asking the government to take them back, but the government doesn't seem to bother much. In Hisar Haryana, the farmers sat on a protest again for repealing the three laws. But the district administration lodged FIRs against them. Hence, the farm unions have decided to hold a 'Black Day' on May 26th by hoisting black flags on the protest sites near the Delhi border. The Black Day will also symbolize the completion of six months of the protests. The farmers of our country are suffering. The ongoing COVID-19 crisis and the several new reforms passed by the government have made their miseries more profound.
